Hunting Dog Tips
Send us photos from your dog’s training.
I have had several calls this week about how to get rid of skunk scent on a dog’s coat. Here’s an easy and effective solution:
- 1 quart of peroxide
- 30-40 oz of baking soda
- 1 tablespoon of mild dish soap or pet shampoo
Use a 1 gallon container to mix the ingredients above. Add water to fill the container. Pour this mixture onto the dog. Let stand for 10 minutes and rinse. Repeat if needed.
This will work for clothes also: let them soak overnight in the solution and then wash in the washer.
Consider a dog from a shelter or animal rescue group. They are often very trainable. It is a matter of testing the dog for the task at hand. Also spaying and neutering do not effect hunting drives. If you need help testing a dog, give us a call.
